Guide to Singapore Long-Term Visit Pass

As a global economic hub and a vibrant, diverse country, Singapore attracts professionals and their families from all over the world to work and live in Singapore. If you are planning to work in Singapore as an Employment Pass (EP) holder or S Pass (SP) holder, you will have an option to bring along your family under the Dependent Pass (DP) and Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) scheme. The Long-Term Visit Pass scheme allows you to work in Singapore and unite with your family member who do not qualify under the DP scheme’s eligibility criteria. This article aims to provide a comprehensive guide for Kaizen’s existing clients or potential clients to understand the Long-Term Visit Pass in Singapore, including eligibility criteria, application process, and other essential details.

  1. Definition of Long-Term Visit Pass

    The Long-Term Visit Pass is a type of visa issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in Singapore. It allows Employment Pass holder or S Pass holder to apply Long-Term Visit Pass for the following family members to reside in Singapore:-
    • Common-law spouse.
    • Unmarried handicapped children aged 21 and above.
    • Unmarried step-children under 21 years old. (If the applicant has turned 21 years old, they will need to obtain an appropriate visa to continue staying in Singapore.)
    • Parents.

  2. Eligibility Criteria for the Long-Term Visit Pass

    (1)
    To be eligible for apply Long-Term Visit Pass, the main Employment Pass or S Pass holder must earn a minimum fixed monthly salary of at least SGD 6,000 per month or SGD12,000 per month (for parents?LTVP application).

    (2)
    The applicant must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with WHO EUL vaccines (including booster, if eligible) and must updated the vaccination record in the National Immunisation Registry (NIR) upon arrival in Singapore. Otherwise, the applicant needs to undergo a medical review with a Singapore-registered doctor to determine if they can be medically exempted from vaccination.

  3. Application Process

    The application process for the Singapore Long-Term Visit Pass can be initiated by the main Employment Pass or S Pass holder’s employer, who acts as the sponsor. The employer should submit the application to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) or appoint Kaizen to submit the application on behalf.

  4. Required Documents

    The following documents are required for applying for a Long-Term Visit Pass:
    • A copy of the applicant’s passport
    • For children sharing a passport with their parents, must submit a copy of the parent’s passport

    The family member of the main Employment Pass or S Pass holders is required to submit the following additional documents:

    Common-law spouse


    Any one of the following:


            A copy of the common-law marriage certificate.


            A copy of an affidavit by the work pass holder and their spouse declaring that they are in a common-law relationship recognised under the laws of their home country/region, that is notarised in their home country/region.


            A copy of letter from the home country/region’s embassy of the work pass holder or spouse acknowledging that they are in common-law relationship recognised under the laws of their country/region.

    Unmarried handicapped children above 21 years of age


            A letter or report from a medical practitioner on the child’s condition.

    Unmarried stepchildren under 21 years of age



            A copy of the court order on the child’s custody.


            A letter from the other biological parent stating there is no objection to bring the child to Singapore.


            Verification of Vaccination Requirements (for entry to Singapore) document issued by HPB is needed for foreign-born children who aged 12 years old and below.

    Parents


            A copy of the work pass holder’s birth certificate that states the name of the parents.



    For non-English documents, you must upload the original document together with an English translation which done by a translation service provider.

  5. Privileges of Long-Term Visit Pass Holders

    Once the Long-Term Visit Pass is approved, the Dependant’s can enjoy several privileges:
    (1)
    Long-Term Visit Pass holders can legally reside in Singapore for the duration of the main Employment Pass or S Pass holder’s employment period, up to a maximum of three years for each renewal.
    (2)
    Long-Term Visit Pass holders are eligible to seek and accept employment in Singapore, with a separate work pass issued by Ministry of Manpower (“MOM? required.
    (3)
    Long-Term Visit Pass holders are eligible to enroll in local schools or international schools with a separate appropriate pass required.
